We value the impact sports has on the overall health and wellbeing of our pupils.

As an academy, we felt inspired by the London 2012 Olympic legacy and as such we have invested our time and efforts into increasing sports participation and celebration.

We take part in many sporting events, working closely with King Edward High School. All of our Key Stage 2 pupils have visited the extensive grounds at KEHS, which has provided us with the opportunity to take part in many different sports.

In the last academic year we have taken part in the following sporting events:

  • Football
  • Netball
  • Badminton
  • Cricket
  • Boccia
  • Athletics
  • Aston Olympics

We also provide many opportunities for children to observe sports events; the most recent being a cricket match at Edgbaston Cricket Grounds.

Sports Curriculum

Our pupils have the opportunity to develop their sporting knowledge, skills and understanding in weekly PE lessons. Sporting activities are also on offer before and after academy, as well as during both lunch and break times.

Our Year 3 pupils attend weekly swimming lessons at New Town Swimming baths.
