There are two classes in Year 6; Cobras and Leopards.
This half term has been another busy one for Year 6. The children have been working exceptionally hard in Maths and English, preparing for their forthcoming SAT tests in May. In Science, we have been studying living things and how to classify them. As part of this, we had a very exciting visit from an Animal Man; we met many exotic animals and learnt about their classifications.
During our topic, we learnt about E-Safety and focused specifically on being a good digital citizen. This including learning about how to be safe in today’s technological society.
This term we have also celebrated World Book Day by creating some fabulous artwork based on the text ‘Wolves in the Wall’ by Neil Gaimen. We have further studied this text in our English lessons and have produced some brilliant innovated pieces of writing!
It’s been an exciting first term for Year 6!
The children have been working exceptionally hard in their maths and english lessons and have really enjoyed our most recent narrative unit where we studied ‘Holes’. From this, the children produced some fabulous persuasive writing from the characters’ points of view.
During this term, children have also studied WW2 and the history of the Maya. We visited RAF Cosford to learn about the planes used in the war – even getting a chance to sit in the cockpit of a WW2 plane!
We also had a special visit from Kato, Mrs Horne’s pet dog who came to see all of our hard work as a treat. We are all looking forward to next term and are ready to work very hard!
