Mansfield Green E-ACT Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The health and safety of all our children is paramount.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.
We will ensure that concerns about our children are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that this will result in further harm to the child.
At Mansfield Green, all adults understand that safeguarding is protecting children from harm and is everyone’s responsibility.
We ensure that children grow up in a safe environment at home and school which enables them to have optimum life chances and enter adulthood successfully and happily.
If you have any concerns about child protection or safeguarding and are unable to contact our school then please contact:
Children’s Advice & Support Service (CASS) on 0121 303 1888.
Outside of normal office hours please call 0121 675 4806 for the Emergency Duty Team.
E-ACT and Mansfield Green have a duty of care to keep all pupils safe, are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils/ staff.
Our safeguarding team consists of Mrs G Chilton (Designated Safeguarding Lead), Miss C Patterson and Mrs L Smith (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead).
Our wonderful team also consists of Miss J Huggins and Mr I Ward who are our Pastoral Learning Mentors.
Any safeguarding concerns are reported and investigated.
We have an open door policy to all pupils, staff and parents so if you are ever concerned about the safety or well‐being of someone at our school, please talk to one of the school’s safeguarding team.
Child Protection and Safeguarding policy
Staying Safe Online
At school we encourage our children to be SMART:
S- Stay Safe. Keep safe by never sharing any personal or private information.
M- Meet. Never agree to meet someone online.
A- Accepting Files or Messages. Never accept a file or message from someone you don’t know!
R- Reliable. Sometimes people don’t tell the truth online. They could be lying about who they are.
T- Tell. Tell someone (a trusted adult) if you feel worried or upset by something online.
For more information please click below:
Children are taught how to keep themselves safe online through a combination of assemblies and lessons from their class teacher.
In particular, children are shown how to:
- use technology safely, respectfully and responsibility
- recognise acceptable/unacceptable behaviour online, such as cyberbullying
- recognise and understand what is real and what is fake online
- keep passwords and personal information safe
- report when they feel unsafe
- understand their online presence and how to be in control of their own privacy
We understand that it can be overwhelming to keep up-to-date with new technologies so we highly recommend using the resources below to keep your children safe online.
We have a range of printed guides within school that explain how you can keep your children safe online. Please speak to the Online Safety Mini-Lead (Mrs Sarhajpal) if you would like a copy or you would like to attend our regular parent workshop on keeping your children safe online.

YOuTUBE KIDS – The simplest option (For tablets and phones)
Simply install the app on your children’s devices and remove the adult-version of YouTube. Your children will only be able to access specially selected content for their age group. The adverts are also suited towards children.

Prevent Duty for Schools
As part of our ongoing safeguarding and child protection duties we are fully behind the government’s Prevent Strategy.
At Mansfield Green, we build pupils’ resilience to radicalisation by promoting fundamental British values and enabling our pupils to challenge extremist views.
The statutory guidance refers to the importance of Prevent awareness training to equip staff to identify children at risk of being drawn into terrorism and to challenge extremist ideas. The Home Office has developed a core training product for this purpose – Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent (WRAP).
All our staff have received WRAP training sessions on what Prevent is and how to deal with any issues they may see inside or outside school.
